About Komorebi Florals
Where craftsmanship meets seasonality
The Meaning Behind Our Name
Komorebi is a Japanese word that describes the interplay of light filtering through leaves, creating patterns of shadow and illumination. This fleeting phenomenon captures a moment of natural beauty that exists between stillness and movement, permanence and change.
The word itself has no direct translation in other languages, embodying a uniquely Japanese sensibility that finds profound meaning in subtle, ephemeral moments. It inspired our approach to floral design, where each arrangement celebrates the transient beauty of the season, the unique character of individual blooms, and the delicate balance between intention and spontaneity.
Rooted in Nerima
Founded in 2018 in the quiet residential neighborhood of Oizumigakuencho, our studio serves as both workshop and gathering space. We chose Nerima for its proximity to local growers in western Tokyo and Saitama, establishing relationships that allow us to source the freshest seasonal blooms within hours of harvest.
Our studio reflects the calm, understated aesthetic we bring to our arrangements. Natural light floods the workspace where we design each bouquet by hand, surrounded by vessels, tools, and the day's selection of blooms. Customers are welcome to visit during studio hours to see our process, discuss custom projects, or simply find inspiration.
How We Work
Seasonal First
We design with what thrives naturally in the current season, ensuring peak freshness and supporting sustainable growing practices.
Quality Commitment
Every stem is inspected for freshness and vitality. We stand behind our work with guaranteed satisfaction on all arrangements.
Transparent Practice
Our pricing is clear and honest. We share the story behind our blooms and the growers who cultivate them.
Reliable Service
Deliveries arrive within scheduled windows. Corporate clients receive consistent service through dedicated account management.
Community and Education
Beyond creating arrangements, we believe in sharing our craft with the community. Our workshop series invites participants to learn foundational floral design principles, explore seasonal composition, and develop their own aesthetic sensibility. Each session is limited to small groups, allowing for personalized instruction and hands-on practice.
We also partner with local businesses, schools, and community centers to bring floral education programs to broader audiences. These collaborations help deepen appreciation for seasonal living and the artistry of working with natural materials. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some experience, our workshops offer a mindful space to slow down, create, and connect with the rhythms of nature.
